On Insanity

This .GIF and the last one are why this is my favorite Disney movie.

I try not to get too feels-y on here (unless it’s puppies - puppies deserve feels) but there’s just something about this that needs to be iconic and hasn’t gotten a chance to be. Don’t get me wrong, my heart flutters when Belle lays her head on the Beast’s shoulder or when Aladdin drops Jasmine off after their carpet ride, but those are moments we remember for how well they affirm romanticism. Sometimes, romance isn’t so romanticized. Sometimes it’s just this.

These two never have to profess love with a mouthful of words and hours of tension leading up to a long and satisfying kiss. There’s just this short, beautiful moment of communion, and it’s all summed up with the look in Wall-E’s eyes right here. These are two very alive creatures who are so hopelessly articulate that they can’t even say anything apart from their own names - but then, are any of us much better off? And then there’s the kiss, and they’ve said more than some people ever will. It’s got a budget in the millions, sure, but I couldn’t’ve asked for a more genuine love story.

Sorry I’m super corny right now. I saw World of Color tonight and it just reminded me of how deeply this one cut.
